What results will I get?
Typically brides go into the programme because they want the motivation to lose weight. You will lose weight if that's your goal, and you'll also come out of the programme with a vision for your wedding day and your health for life. You'll feel energised, self-confident, excited about your goals and feeling self-love towards your body.
How much weight could I lose during the programme?
Again, this is up to you and depends on your goals, how healthy you eat, how much you exercise, how positive you think. Some people lose between 0.5 and 2 pounds a week, but you may lose much more or less some weeks.
Most women in the programme want to lose between 1 and 4 dress sizes for their wedding. Others just want better skin or more energy. You can achieve all these goals with what you learn on the 6 Weeks to Wedding Weight Loss Programme.
Why the raw food diet?
Many brides are looking for a solution to lose weight for their wedding, and you might be tempted to go on a strict calorie restriction diet, an unnatural supplement or a liquid only shake meal replacement. Some of these may work for you, others might be a short term solution only. The raw food diet is simple, common sense, fun, natural, green and makes your body feel amazing.
Is the raw food diet a new diet?
No! This way of eating has been around forever, because it's based on fresh and unprocessed food - not junk, artificial flavours, e-numbers and preservatives.
A lot of celebrities use the raw food diet, particularly drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juices before a big red carpet event. They know that it will help them lose weight, flatten their tummies and make their skin glow. If it's good enough for the likes of Demi Moore, Katie Price and Alicia Silverstone, imagine what it can do for your wedding!
Will you tell me what to eat during the programme?
Not exactly. I am not a nutritionist and so cannot give specific nutritional advice. However, you will be encouraged to eat as naturally as possible, with simple, fresh, organic (where possible) and real food. However, there are some handy tips, recipes and suggestions for when you eat out.
Will I be hungry on the programme?
No. The raw food diet is about eating the most natural, fresh and nourishing food on the planet. It's not a calorie restriction diet, nor about starvation or denial. You'll be pleasantly surprised that you don't feel like you're on a diet, because you're not! This is a lifestyle change, with no rules - just recommendations and consequences or benefits!
Do I have to be a vegetarian or vegan on this programme?
No. However, the programme is built on eating as much fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds as you can to really get the full benefit. You may decide to go 100% vegan for the duration of the programme or until your wedding. It's a personal choice. You can decide to eat meat and diary if you want, but simply less than normal. It's more about what you put in, rather than taking out everything.
Do I have to take any pills or supplements during the programme?
No, unless you want to. If you are currently taking a multi-vitamin, then you can continue. The exception being if your vitamins (in particular, some Vitamin C tables) contain a lot of artificial flavours, colouring, sweeteners or sugar. Check the label. In that case, you might want to consider getting your nutrition from fresh fruit and vegetables.
What about medication?
You should continue taking any prescribed medication. If you are worried at all, then please see your doctor before starting any new programme in eating or exercise. You are not required to cut anything out of your diet that you are not sure about.
What bad habits should I break during the programme?
If you smoke, take drugs or drink heavily, then it's not really in your best interest to continue. However, it's up to you if you want to go "cold turkey" for the programme, as it will definitely affect your success in the programme. However, this is not the focus on the programme, so it's your choice.
How much exercise do I have to do?
Completely up to you! There's no requirement, except for finding something that works for you. You will get better and quicker results if you do some form of exercise. However, I didn't join a gym at all before I got married and I lost two dress sizes doing simple exercise that's low impact.
Why is it focused on mindset?
In some ways, we already know what food works for us, and what makes us unhealthy. Most of us struggle with changing our habits, believing that we are worth it or have unconscious fears around what will happen when we're slim and healthy.
The goal of the programme is to completely reprogramme you so that you are absolutely geared towards your success. You'll come out of the programme focused on that big day, but feeling excited that it's finally your time to have the body you've always wanted.
