What is Raw Food?
Raw, or
“living foods” as it’s sometimes known is basically just fresh unheated food.
Food that has been designed for you by nature rather than created in a lab. The
choice and availability is virtually endless. Eating a raw, plant-based diet
can make you look younger, feel better, maintain a natural healthy weight and
can even reduce the risk of serious life-style related diseases such as
diabetes, heart disease and even cancer.
Why does it work?
It's food your body recognises, it nourishes you from the inside out, is great for your hair, skin and nails, it's easy for your body to process, it helps you deal with stress, balances your hormones, makes you feel amazing, is good for the planet and helps reduce the problem of animal mistreatment. There's plenty of good reasons, but you can just do it for weight loss if you want!
Do I have to be a vegan or a vegetarian?
Nope! If you want to be then it’s your personal choice but it’s not 100% necessary, nor do you have to only eat 100% raw food. You can still get great results from the raw food lifestyle if you eat small amounts of meat and dairy products. Eating as much raw food as possible will make you feel amazing, but it’s not a competition and you can follow your own intuition as to what works for you.
Is Raw Food expensive?
It doesn’t have to be. We all hear about how cheap junk food is compared to fresh fruit and vegetables, but if you shop smart and understand the value you receive comparisons are meaningless. I offer a lot of tips in the Raw Brides Transformation Plan.
Does everything have to be organic?
How do I get my protein?
Every raw foodist, vegetarian and vegan gets this question, and it can be tough to answer at first. You may only think you can get this from animal sources, but there are plenty of healthy plant-based forms. Protein deficiency is extremely rare in healthy adults living in developed countries, so this is not something you need to worry about.
