I made this punch at Blanka of Gracefully Raw's house for her Christmas gathering, but it can be used for any party punch, particularly any winter gatherings as it's very warming.
For some reason I thought it would be red, but it was bright pink, hence the name! I was worried that nobody would want to drink it but everyone loved it! It would make a great Valentine's day punch or even a kooky Halloween punch.
This will work better with a masticating juicer, but a traditional one will work if you do it slowly. You might want to strain it, but I liked it the way it was!
Love Punch
Makes approx 2 litres
The traditional Christmas punch calls for a lot of sugar, but our version is going to use fruit juice instead.
- 3 large oranges
- 1 medium beetroot
- 4 pears
- Ginger
- Pomegranates
- Red grapes
- 1 litre of warm water (if you're not adding in alcohol)
- 1 Lemon
Optional alcohol:
You really won't miss the alcohol, but you can add in brandy, red wine or even vodka to give it a kick (although probably not all three!). If you're not having alcohol then add in the 1 litre of warm water. I used brandy and it was lovely!
Instructions
If making it without alcohol, boil 1 litre of water in the kettle and then set aside for 5 minutes to cool, so it's warm not hot.
Meanwhile, juice the pears, beetroot and ginger and grapes in a juicing machine and strain through a sieve or through muslin to get rid of any foam.
Juice half of the oranges, and slice off some of the peel. The remaining oranges can be studded with cloves and sliced up to add decoration to the wine. Slice the lemon in small piece and get the seeds out of the pomegranates by bashing each half upside down with a wooden spoon.
In a large saucepan, add in all the juice, decorations and water / brandy and stir on a low heat.
Serve into pretty glasses with bits of the orange, lemon and pomegranates in each glass.
